The School of Medicine is advertising for a teacher for the early years stage for the 2026-2027 academic year.
Lækjarskóli has a history dating back to 1877 and is situated in a beautiful, green environment by the Lækjará river in Hafnarfjörður. A new school building was constructed, bright and spacious, and opened in 2002. The school has a swimming pool and a sports hall, among other facilities. There are nearly 500 pupils in total, of whom almost 140 are in the upper school.
Key responsibilities and duties:
- Providing general supervision and teaching at the primary level using a variety of teaching methods.
- Working on the development of UDL and other school development at Lækjarskóli in collaboration with the school community.
- Promoting the well-being of students in partnership with the school community
- Working according to SMT school skills
- Take part in the school's strategic planning.
- Other duties as described in the job description
Educational and competency requirements:
- Licence to use the professional title of primary school teacher (a licence must accompany the application)
- Experience and knowledge of a variety of teaching methods for the middle school level is desirable.
- Aptitude for communication and flexibility in work
- Initiative and autonomy in work methods
- Positivity and an interest in working in a creative and ambitious environment
- Very good Icelandic skills, at a minimum C1 according to Self-assessment framework
- Extensive computer skills and a good knowledge of G-Suite and Mentor.
- Interest in team teaching and interdisciplinary collaboration
- Initiative and autonomy in work methods
- Punctuality and conscientiousness

The salary is in accordance with the collective agreement between the Association of Icelandic Local Authorities and the Association of Primary School Teachers.
