Lækjarskóli is looking to hire a school and leisure assistant on 40–50% terms until the end of the school year at the after-school club, Lækjarsel.
The Council has been in the position since August 2026.
This is a position involving providing support and assistance to pupils at the after-school club, Lækjarsel, every weekday afternoon. After regular school hours, pupils in Years 1-4 can attend the after-school club, Lækjarsel. Lækjarsel is based at the school. It offers a varied after-school and outdoor activity programme until 16:30 every weekday, regardless of a child's ability, development or disability. A special emphasis is placed on being inclusive of all groups.
There is a possibility of a job on a games course next summer.

The school operates according to SMT School Skills, which means that the emphasis is on approaching pupils in a positive way, paying more attention to good behaviour and creating a positive school atmosphere.
Key responsibilities and duties:
- Works at an after-school club in various leisure activities
- Welcomes students and assists children in play and work.
- Working with students with specific difficulties
- Fosters good discipline and positive communication
- Participates in the planning, preparation and delivery of a diverse range of leisure activities.
- To involve as many people as possible, regardless of ability or development, in a variety of activities and to take full part in the activities and events that are organised.

Educational and competency requirements:
- Experience of working with children is desirable.
- A great interest and ambition to work with children
- Agility in communication, flexibility and cooperativeness
- Initiative and autonomy in work methods
- Positivity and an interest in working in a creative and ambitious environment
- Punctuality and conscientiousness
- Very good knowledge of Icelandic, at a minimum A2 according to the ETM Self-Assessment Framework (coe.int)
- General computer skills
