Hraunvallar School is looking to hire school and after-school staff for the 2026-2027 academic year.
Hraunvallar School is unique in that both a nursery and a primary school are run within its walls. The school operates according to the open school philosophy, and the building was designed with this in mind. Teachers work together in teams during lessons and in the planning and preparation of teaching. Pupils in the same year group are in common tutor groups with a shared form tutor in their home areas. The values of Hraunvallaskóli are friendship, cooperation and responsibility.

The employment percentage is 50-70%, but there is an opportunity to increase it by also working in the after-school club Hraunsel/Drekasel in the afternoon.
Key responsibilities and duties:
- Carries out patrol and monitoring duties for the premises and equipment, and keeps corridors and toilets tidy throughout the day.
- Assisting with general classroom work under the guidance of a teacher
- Works at a youth club and on summer and play schemes
- Welcomes students and assists them.
- Assisting in the dining hall and with meal preparation.
- Covers break time supervision, escort and supervision during the daily school routine.
- Working with students with specific difficulties
- Supervises and assists the children in play and work.
- Other tasks that a manager assigns to an employee
Educational and competency requirements:
- Experience of working with children is desirable.
- Icelandic proficiency A2 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages
- General computer skills
- A great interest and ambition to work with children
- Constructive in communication, flexibility and a high degree of collaboration
- Initiative and autonomy in work methods
- Punctuality and conscientiousness
A condition of employment is that the person has a clean criminal record.
