The City of Hafnarfjörður is looking for a summer employee to work at the Hafnarfjörður Water and Sewerage Department in a 100% position this summer.

We are looking for a responsible and solution-oriented individual with an interest in practical work, who takes pride in good work practices and teamwork. The post holder is responsible for all tools and equipment used, and for ensuring exemplary standards of tidiness and organisation. The role is within the Environment and Planning Department, based at Norðurhellu 2, where a strong emphasis is placed on professionalism and safety.

Key responsibilities and duties:

·         Maintenance and monitoring of the town's utility systems in collaboration with other water and sewerage staff.

·         Cleaning and maintenance of pump and valve housings

·         Painting fire hydrants and inside the utility companies' premises

·         Other tasks that a manager assigns to an employee

Educational and competency requirements:

·         Experience in a similar role is an advantage.

·         Teamwork and communication skills, customer focus

·         Initiative, independence and organisational skills

·         Ability to work under pressure

·         Ability to adapt to changing circumstances

·         Physically able to carry out the duties of the job.

·         Driving licence

  •    Icelandic proficiency, A1 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages

The remuneration is in accordance with the collective agreement between the Association of Icelandic Local Authorities and the Hafnarfjörður Staff Association.
