Bjarkalundur Nursery School is advertising for a full-time teacher.
Bjarkalundur Nursery is located in Völlunum and is a four-unit nursery that opened in the autumn of 2016. The nursery draws on the Reggio Emilia approach. Its key focuses are early intervention in its work with children, alongside literacy and flow. The school works according to the SMT School Skills programme, which focuses on paying attention to and reinforcing positive behaviour. The school's values are cooperation, respect and care. Interactions within the school are based on these values, which are to be reflected in all of the school's work.
Bjarkalundur nursery school has a positive, enthusiastic and fun-loving staff, where the emphasis is on professionalism.
The nurseries of Hafnarfjörður have introduced improved working hours, based on a 36-hour working week for all staff. Staff in the Association of Early Years Educators and the Association of Occupational Therapists have opted for an arrangement whereby their academic year is comparable to that of primary school teachers.
