All municipalities in the capital region, with the exception of K\u00f3pavogur, have entered into an agreement on a joint transport service for disabled people and the elderly. On this basis, Str\u00e6t\u00f3 was tasked with operating the service from the turn of the year, a service it has been running in Reykjav\u00edk since 2001.<\/p>\n
Increased security and flexibility<\/strong><\/p>\n Str\u00e6t\u00f3's aim is to provide users of the ride-hailing service with a more flexible and safer service than they have previously received. Increased flexibility includes, for example, the ability for users to book journeys with two hours' notice, instead of the previous one-day advance booking. The customer service line will be open for much longer than before, i.e. while the company's vehicles are in operation. Increased user safety will be ensured, among other things, by renewing the fleet of vehicles for the transport service, as well as by carrying out regular quality and safety checks on them.<\/p>\n Good cooperation is key<\/strong><\/p>\n The transport service is a comprehensive and important service that affects many people, and therefore<\/p>\n Good collaboration and consultation with user interest groups is extremely important to ensure the successful implementation of the service. A consultation group has been established with representatives from the local authorities, Str\u00e6t\u00f3, users and the drivers. The group's role is to monitor the implementation and provide suggestions for improvement. Str\u00e6t\u00f3 also encourages users to submit their comments and suggestions by phoning the customer service centre (540 27 00) or by email (thjonustuver@straeto.is<\/a>) or via the Str\u00e6t\u00f3 website (www.straeto.is<\/a>All suggestions and comments are recorded and processed as quickly as possible.<\/p>\n Service guarantee<\/strong><\/p>\n According to the agreement between the municipalities, responsibility for the transport service is divided: Each local authority's social services department determines who is permitted to use the service, decides the number of journeys per user, and what services the user is entitled to.
