In light of the discussion regarding the City of Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur's monitoring of calls from its telephone system, the City of Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur wishes to make the following statement:<\/p>\n
Data from Vodafone to the City of Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur did not include telephone numbers for which the city's contribution cap applies, and therefore covered far fewer telephone numbers than has previously been reported in the media. <\/p>\n
In a statement from Vodafone to the town, it is stated, among other things, that the data only covered telephone numbers for which the City of Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur is a subscriber and pays in full. This means that they did not include numbers for which the town makes a partial payment, but this is the rule that generally applies to the mobile phones of staff and elected representatives.<\/p>\n
Following a complaint to the Information Commissioner's Office, it was revealed, according to information from Vodafone, that the data were much more limited than had previously been stated. As they had been deleted, the City of Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur was unable to verify this, but Vodafone's statement reveals the correct information. <\/p>\n
