Three projects received a grant from the Helga and Bjarni Memorial Fund at a ceremony in the Hafnarfjar\u00f0arkirkja community centre, H\u00e1s\u00f6lum, on the birthday of Dr Bjarni Sn\u00e6bj\u00f6rnsson, 8th March.\n<\/p>\n
H\u00fasi\u00f0 \u2013 Youth Centre received two grants: \u00cdsjakarnir, a group activity aimed at integrating young people of foreign origin into the community, received 150,000, and Stu\u00f0boltarnir, a group for young people with disabilities, received 95,000 for an adventure trip. Inga Bj\u00f6rk Ingad\u00f3ttir received five hundred thousand kronur for the development of the Music Therapy Centre Hlj\u00f3ma at Austurgata 38. .<\/p>\n
Magn\u00fas Sn\u00e6bj\u00f6rnsson presented the grants on behalf of the board of the Memorial Fund, with Magn\u00fas serving on the fund's board alongside the Reverend J\u00f3n Helgi \u00de\u00f3rarinsson and R\u00f3sa Gu\u00f0bjartsd\u00f3ttir.<\/p>\n
The Helga and Bjarni Memorial Fund has been operating since 2006. Its purpose is to support and empower individuals, businesses or public bodies in Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur that provide services and assistance to children facing any kind of hardship. Since the fund was established, 24 projects have received grants.<\/p>\n
It is the hope of Helga and Bjarni's family that the scholarships will serve to further strengthen the good and rewarding work of the scholarship recipients with the youth of Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur. <\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
