On Sunday, 12th April at 2 pm, visitors to Hafnarborg will have the opportunity to learn about the interesting career of the artist J\u00f3n\u00edna Gu\u00f0nad\u00f3ttir (b. 1943). J\u00f3n\u00edna has lived and worked in Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur for almost four decades and has run a studio there where she has created both functional objects and works of art.\n<\/p>\n
Images of works from throughout the artist's career will be shown, and P\u00e9tr\u00fan P\u00e9tursd\u00f3ttir and \u00d3l\u00f6f K. Sigur\u00f0ard\u00f3ttir will speak with the artist about her career and the ideas behind the works.<\/p>\n
J\u00f3nina's career began in the mid-1960s, after she had studied at the Iceland Academy of the Arts and at Konstfack in Stockholm. J\u00f3n\u00edna's background is in ceramics, and for many years she has been at the forefront of Icelandic ceramics, while also being a powerful pioneer in breaking with the utilitarian tradition to use clay as the material for independent works of art.<\/p>\n
The exhibition of J\u00f3n\u00edna's works, entitled Guardian<\/strong>. In her work, the artist looks back to her childhood and formative years in the mid-20th century.
