The condition of the tank was much worse than had been expected, as one of the two knife-edge valves at its base was stuck and inoperative. Construction of pipe sections and other components has begun, but it is clear that their finishing and the entire project will take longer than planned.\n<\/p>\n<p>The Sewerage emergency outfalls will therefore remain open for at least the next two weeks, and the town's residents are asked to apologise for this.
