A bonfire will be lit for the New Year's Eve bonfire at 8:30 p.m. on New Year's Eve. The bonfire will, as usual, be held at \u00c1svellir, now on the Haukar sports grounds on V\u00f6llunum, specifically in the lava field in front of the sports centre.\u00a0The football club Haukar and the City of Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur are jointly organising the bonfire.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Passers-by are advised to keep a safe distance from the bonfire, dress appropriately for the weather, leave fireworks at home and fully enjoy the company of friends, family and other cheerful residents and visitors of the City of Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur. The Sports and Leisure Committee, the prevention officer, parent councils and parent-teacher associations in Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur, together with the police, encourage parents of children and teenagers in the town to make New Year's Eve a fun and family-friendly evening.<\/p>\n
As usual, some traffic can be expected in V\u00f6llunum on New Year's Eve, and it is therefore recommended that people set off in good time to enjoy the bonfires and fireworks.
