\u00a0A new year is set to begin with a cultural festival for children in Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur, where the focus will be on books and films. The aim of the festival is to foster children's interest in reading and literacy in a broad sense, and the festival will support the literacy project of the town's nursery and primary schools, which has been running for the past few terms.<\/p>\n

Children, books and cinema in the spotlight<\/h4>\n

The cultural festival will be held in February in close cooperation between the City of Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur and the Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur Public Library, primary schools, nurseries, the B\u00e6jarb\u00ed\u00f3 cinema and other partners.\u00a0 Preparations for the festival are underway, and ideas such as a travelling library, a reading competition and film dates have already been put on the table.\u00a0 The festival's stated aim is to encourage children of all ages to actively participate in constructive and interesting literacy and cultural projects and events during the festival.\u00a0 This is the first time such a festival has been held in Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur, and it is hoped that it will become an annual festival where children, books and cinema are in the spotlight.<\/p>\n
