There are approximately 30 students (out of just over 350 in the town's 10th grade) studying each subject, which also serves as the first year of the respective subjects in the new three-year programme leading to the student's diploma. The course is then also recognised at other secondary schools should a student decide to attend a school other than Flensborg after primary school. Of these students, about a quarter take both subjects.<\/p>\n
The course was launched with a short introductory event in Flensburg recently, where students and their families received a brief introduction to the programme, refreshments were served, and students met their teachers. Teaching has now begun and will continue throughout the winter. Students will take two modules in each subject, one in the autumn term 2015 and the other in the spring term 2016.<\/p>\n
B\u00e6jarbr\u00fain is a collaboration between the primary schools of Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur and the town's upper secondary schools (Flensborg and the Technical College). This involves a specific collaboration between the school stages, allowing pupils in the primary schools to take upper secondary school courses while they are still in the lower school (Year 9 or 10). The course of study is then tailored to them and is a combination of in-person and distance learning. The costs and division of responsibilities for this collaboration follow a specific procedure and apply equally to all pupils in Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur's primary schools, regardless of their school. Furthermore, previous collaboration models between the school stages, which differed between schools in Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur, are now discontinued.<\/p>\n
