The national organisation Down's Syndrome Association and the Municipality of Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur today signed an agreement regarding a plot of land at \u00d6ldugata 41 in Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur. The Down's Syndrome Association's housing fund plans to build there rental flats for six disabled individuals. The building is scheduled for completion in 2018.<\/p>\n

Today, Mayor Haraldur L. Haraldsson, Sveinn E. Sigur\u00f0sson, chairman of the Housing Fund, and \u00c1rni M\u00fali J\u00f3nasson, executive director of Down's Syndrome Association, signed an agreement for the development of a residential complex for disabled people at 41 \u00d6ldugata in Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur.\u00a0The aim is to build accommodation that enables disabled people to live in their own homes in accordance with their needs and wishes as far as possible, to ensure them equal rights to housing, and to create the conditions for a normal life and participation in society.\u00a0The parties involved are hopefully pleased with the agreement and it was deemed appropriate to sign it on the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, which is held on 3 December each year. The day has been celebrated since 1981.<\/p>\n
