At the start of the town council meeting on Wednesday, Gu\u00f0r\u00ed\u00f0ar \u00d3skar El\u00edasd\u00f3ttir was remembered, as she had recently passed away.<\/p>\n
Gu\u00f0r\u00ed\u00f0ur was a trade union leader and took an active part in social affairs. She was a leader of the Framt\u00ed\u00f0in Women's Trade Union in Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur and a former vice-president of the AS\u00cd. Gu\u00f0r\u00fan \u00d3sk was a pillar of the trade union movement and played a diverse role within it. She was an alternate town councillor from 1974 and a town councillor from 1977 to 1978 for the People's Party.\u00a0

Gu\u00f0r\u00ed\u00f0ur was awarded the honorary title of the Icelandic Order of the Falcon in 1997 for her work in trade unionism.\u00a0<\/p>\n
