This is in<br \/>\nthe thirteenth time this festival of light and darkness has been held but four main pillars<br \/>\nThe festival's events are: Museum Night, Swimming Pool Night, Snow Celebration and Light Art, along with 150<br \/>\nevents and their associated activities. The main purpose of the Winter Festival is to entertain people at<br \/>\nthe capital region and give it the opportunity to enjoy culture and the outdoors in<br \/>\nown municipality and\/or visit their neighbours in nearby<br \/>\nmunicipality. H\u00f6fu\u00f0borgarstofa oversees the festival and all<br \/>\nEvents on it are free.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><b>Winter Festival Programme: <\/b><\/p>\n<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Thursday, 4 February, at.<br \/>\n19:30: Opening night at Harpa, light art and a snowboard party.<\/li>\n<li>5 February, Friday at.<br \/>\n19-24: Museum night in nearly 40 museums.<\/li>\n<li>6 February, Saturday.<br \/>\n16-24: Swimming pool night in 10 swimming pools.<\/li>\n<li>7th February, Sunday:<br \/>\nSnow celebration in Bl\u00e1fj\u00f6ll.<\/li>\n<li>+150<br \/>\nEvents<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><b>Opening night<br \/>\nWinter festivals<\/b><\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>Winter Festival<br \/>\nwill be inaugurated with the unveiling of the work <i>Slettireku<\/i>, Thursday, 4 February<br \/>\nAt 19:30 at Harpa. Mayor Dagur B. Eggertsson opens the festival. At<br \/>\nOn opening night, the Harpa's light dome will be transformed into a giant interactive canvas.<br \/>\nwhich the public can decorate with virtual paint. The decoration goes<br \/>\nthus to the website <i>paint.is<\/i> is opened on the phone and there you will be able to<br \/>\nChoose colours to apply to the glass glaze. The work <i>Sleatereka<\/i> is<br \/>\nthe winning proposal of Halld\u00f3r Eldj\u00e1rn and \u00de\u00f3r\u00f0ur Hans Baldursson on<br \/>\nThe most promising artwork on the Harpa light dome for the 2016 Winter Lights Festival. By<br \/>\nA ski and snowboard party gets underway on<br \/>\nArnarh\u00f3ll, where the country's most skilled skiers and snowboarders show off their skills.<br \/>\nto lively music from DJs. Passers-by are also invited to come.<br \/>\nwith a board or skis and slide down the specially set-up ski run<br \/>\nfor this event. This is the second time that the Capital Region Tourism Board, Ski Area<br \/>\nThe Capital Region and the company Mintsnow are holding a ski and snowboard party at Arnarh\u00f3ll, but last year it was held<br \/>\nA comparable party that was a great success.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><b>Museum Night<\/b><\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>A museum night will be held<br \/>\non Friday evening, 5th February, when nearly forty museums across the country open<br \/>\nin the capital region, open their doors from 7 p.m. and offer a fun and<br \/>\nA varied programme until midnight. Residents and visitors of the city of all ages<br \/>\ncan enjoy over 100 events of all shapes and sizes at museums on<br \/>\nin the capital region. You will be able to take part in <i>The Museum Night Game<\/i> but<br \/>\nLucky visitors can win, among other things, annual passes to museums, art books and more.<br \/>\nA special Museum Night bus runs between the museums throughout the capital region and<br \/>\nmakes the visit easier for guests. The Museum Night bus hub will be at Kjarvalssta\u00f0ir.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><b>Swimming pool night<\/b><\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>There will be a swimming pool night.<br \/>\nto be held on Saturday evening, 6th February, but swimming will be free from four o'clock.<br \/>\nuntil midnight in 10 swimming pools in the capital region. Guests get to experience<br \/>\nA unique evening at the swimming pools where light, darkness and joy will be<br \/>\nAll-encompassing. This year's programme is extremely varied, but among the offerings are<br \/>\nYoga, dance, water polo and a choir performance in a steam bath. Those swimming pools<br \/>\nTaking part in the Swimming Pool Night this time are: <\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>\u00c1lftanes Swimming Pool,<br \/>\n\u00c1rb\u00e6jarlaug, \u00c1svallalaug, Kl\u00e9bergslaug, L\u00e1gafellslaug, Laugardagslaug, Salalaug<br \/>\n(Laugavegur Swimming Pool), Reykjav\u00edk Swimming Pool, K\u00f3pavogur Swimming Pool and<br \/>\nWest End Pool.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><b>Snow celebration<\/b><\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>We celebrate<br \/>\nSnow and bright weather in Bl\u00e1fj\u00f6ll on Sunday, 7th February, the final day of the Winter Festival.<br \/>\nwhere residents of the capital region are invited to enjoy a fun<br \/>\nProgramme of events.
