{"id":12955,"date":"2016-03-09T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2016-03-09T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hafnarfjordur.is\/minningarsjodur-helgu-og-bjarna\/"},"modified":"2022-10-25T08:59:15","modified_gmt":"2022-10-25T08:59:15","slug":"helga-and-bjarnar-memorial-fund","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hafnarfjordur.is\/en\/minningarsjodur-helgu-og-bjarna\/","title":{"rendered":"Grants from the memorial fund"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Grant awards from the Helga and Bjarni Memorial Fund<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>On 8th March, grants were awarded from the Helga and Bjarni Memorial Fund at a ceremony in H\u00e1s\u00f6lum, the parish hall of Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur Church, on Bjarni Sn\u00e6bj\u00f6rnsson's birthday. Magn\u00fas Sn\u00e6bj\u00f6rnsson presented the grants on behalf of the board of the Memorial Fund, which he chairs alongside the Reverend J\u00f3n Helgi \u00de\u00f3rarinsson and R\u00f3sa Gu\u00f0bjartsd\u00f3ttir.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>This time, three projects received grants. Bjartey Sigur\u00f0ard\u00f3ttir and \u00c1sthildur Snorrad\u00f3ttir received a 500,000 kr\u00f3na grant to develop the app 'Or\u00f0agull', which aims to enhance vocabulary, working memory, auditory processing and expression. A partnership providing homework support for students from foreign backgrounds received 450,000 kr\u00f3na, and the sports club Fj\u00f6r\u00f0ur received 500,000 kr\u00f3na to enhance its sports school.<\/p>\n<p>The Helga and Bjarni Memorial Fund has been operating since 2006. The fund's purpose is to support and empower individuals, businesses or public bodies in Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur that provide services and assistance to children facing any kind of hardship. Since the fund was established, 27 projects have received grants.
