The work will take place this summer, and it is expected that the curing will be complete on all the pitches by autumn 2016. The artificial turf and rubber crumb on the FH and Haukar sports grounds meet the current quality requirements.&nbsp;<\/i>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4>Field users should benefit from the doubt.<\/h4>\n<p>The City of Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur operates eight football pitches, so-called KS\u00cd pitches, at all the city's primary schools. At its meeting this morning, the Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur City Council decided that this summer the rubber crumb surfacing will be replaced on all of these pitches. The estimated cost of the project is around 15 million kr\u00f3nur. Although it has not been scientifically proven that the crumb causes health damage, there is considered to be strong reason to err on the side of caution for everyone who uses the pitches for leisure, sport and recreation. Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur municipality, FH and Haukar also operate two large pitches; at \u00c1svellir and in Kaplakriki.
