Today celebrates West Cottage Nursery School<\/a> The school is celebrating its 22nd anniversary and, on its anniversary day, is now being presented with the Green Flag for the second time. Within the nursery, great emphasis has been placed on saving paper, conserving energy, sorting rubbish and
\nEnvironmental education with children. <\/p>\n

Increased emphasis on environmental education, food waste and public health<\/h4>\n

Over the past few months, the nursery has further improved
\nenvironmental education by reducing food waste and lessening the amount of rubbish generated
\nwithin the nursery. At the same time, staff have been working with public health, with an emphasis on a healthy diet,
\nmovement and friendship among the children. To this end, a reorganisation is underway.
\nIndoor sports sessions, increased outdoor activities and field trips with children of all ages. Vesturkot Nursery School is a proud participant in the Save the Children \u2013 Friendship project, which is run with the two oldest year groups at the nursery school. The project is based on professional and excellent teaching material that encourages pupils to think about themselves and their friends, and to learn to be considerate of others.

Reading is the game of life.<\/h4>\n

There has been significant development in the professional field.
\nThe school's work has been reviewed over recent years, and various aspects have been revised, developed and improved. In the nursery school, a literacy policy has been developed in collaboration with
\nHafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur's literacy campaign \u2013 Reading is life
\ngame<\/i>. The literacy strategy is woven into all daily work, where play is the main teaching tool. In addition, new learning materials have been incorporated into the work, which further enhances it.

\nmethods that can be used to assess the well-being of children and how to enhance their well-being in the nursery. There is great anticipation within the school for these needs.
