The Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur Scavenger Hunt has started for the 19th time. The aim of the game is to encourage outdoor activities and nature observation in the diverse uplands of Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur. The game also extends into the neighbouring municipality of Gar\u00f0ab\u00e6r, as the two municipalities share a long history.<\/p>\n
The game, which runs until 25 September, involves searching for 27 geocaches that have been placed all over the countryside and even in town. To help, participants have a detailed aerial map showing the locations, along with information about each site.\u00a0The markers can be searched for in any order. The game is divided into three categories: 1) Lightfoot, 2) Hiking Hero and 3) Trailblazer, but those who find 9, 18 or all of the markers will become Lightfoot, Hiking Hero or Trailblazer. Prizes will be awarded to three people in each category, and several additional prizes will also be drawn from all entries. To be in with a chance of winning one of these, you must attend the harvest festival in the autumn.<\/p>\n
The game has received an extremely good response in recent years, and participation has been very high. This year's theme is land and boundary markers.\u00a0The game is published by H\u00f6nnunarh\u00fasi\u00f0 ehf. Participants are encouraged not to forget to enjoy the journey to the markers and to take plenty of time at them and in their surroundings. As before, it is not permitted to move the markers or to publish photos of them where the solution words are visible.
