Open at Hafnarborg from 12-17 (free admission).\u00a0Hafnarborg's summer exhibition this time is a group show by six artists who share a common theme of referencing water in their work \u2013 the exhibition 'Traces of Water'. Colour, water and its evaporation are at the heart of the concept \u2013 what are the traces left after the transformation? The artists exhibiting are Anna R\u00fan Tryggvad\u00f3ttir, Florence Lam, Harpa \u00c1rnad\u00f3ttir, Hulda Stef\u00e1nsd\u00f3ttir, John Zurier and Margr\u00e9t H. Bl\u00f6ndal. The Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur Folk Museum is a lively and informative museum for the whole family, open from 11:00 to 17:00 in six houses, as well as a photography exhibition on Strandst\u00edgur. Admission is free.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><em>The Warehouse, 8 West Street.<\/em>\u00a0The main exhibition building of the Folk Museum hosts three exhibitions: a themed exhibition about the film town of Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur, 'This is How It Was\u2026 The History of Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur from Settlement to the Present Day', and on the top floor of the building, a colourful toy exhibition for children and adults.<\/li>\n<li><em>S\u00edvertsens' House, 6 Vesturgata.\u00a0<\/em>The house is the oldest in the town, built between 1803 and 1805 by Bjarni S\u00edvertsen, who was at the time the most prominent businessman in Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur, running a fishing business, a shop and a shipyard in the town. The house contains a wealth of information about Bjarni and his family.<\/li>\n<li><em>Beggub\u00fa\u00f0, 3b Kirkjuvegur.\u00a0<\/em>The building houses the Folk Museum's shop museum. It was built in 1906 as a shop for Egil Jacobsen's business. It was previously located on Strandgata but was moved to the museum's grounds, restored, and opened as an exhibition house in 2008.<\/li>\n<li><em>Siglufj\u00f6r\u00f0ur, Church Road 10.\u00a0<\/em>Stepping inside this little house is a truly unique experience. Siggub\u00e6r was built in 1902 and is preserved as an example of a working-class or fisherman's home in Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur from the first half of the 20th century. In addition, the \u201eElves and Belief in Elves\u201c exhibition is open at Siggub\u00e6r.<\/li>\n<li><em>Bookless Bungalow, 32 Vesturgata.<\/em>\u00a0The bungalow was built as a residence for the Scottish brothers Harry and Douglas Bookless in 1918, who ran an extensive fishing business from Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur in the first half of the 20th century. The house tells the story of the foreign fishing industry in Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur during the first half of the 20th century, but the building itself is also a unique museum piece.<\/li>\n<li><em>G\u00fatt\u00f3, 7 South Street.\u00a0<\/em>At the Good Templar Hall, the Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur Folk Museum has set up the exhibition \u201eGutt\u00f3 \u2013 House of the Templars, cradle of social and cultural life for 130 years\u201c, which sheds light on the history of the Order of the Good Templars in Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur and the extensive social and cultural work that has taken place in the building over the years.<\/li>\n<li><em>The coastal path.<\/em>\u00a0\u00a0On the promenade along the harbour in Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur, the Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur Folk Museum has an exhibition space for its photography collection. There, a new photography exhibition can be seen, featuring photographs by the amateur photographer \u00c1sgeir Kr. S\u00f6rensen of the daily life of the people of Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur in the mid-20th century. The exhibition features 60 photographs and covers the area from the Fj\u00f6rukr\u00e1 to Herj\u00f3lfsgata.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h4>Something else going on<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>12:00-18:00 Open house at the Skatepark on Flatahraun with the Skateboard Club \u2013 free entry<\/li>\n<li>Ragnar Bjarnason visits hospitals with an accompanist and holds concerts.<\/li>\n<li>The Viking Summer Solstice Festival will be held at the Fjord Wharf.<\/li>\n<li>The Free Church will be holding an open house.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>Transport and road closures<\/h4>\n<p>The town centre will be closed to car traffic during the celebrations:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Strandgata and Austurgata: at L\u00e6kjargata<\/li>\n<li>Linnet Path: at Fjardar Street and 23 Hverfisgata<\/li>\n<li>Mj\u00f3sund: at East Street<\/li>\n<li>Disabled parking at 1 Linnet Path<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Residents are encouraged to park legally near the town centre and walk or take the bus to event venues. We point to the numerous car parks at L\u00e6kjarsk\u00f3li, I\u00f0nsk\u00f3linn, Flensborg, the Strandgata Sports Hall and V\u00ed\u00f0ista\u00f0ask\u00f3li.\u00a0As a reminder, dogs are better off at home than in crowds and large gatherings.
