Ingibj\u00f6rg Einarsd\u00f3ttir, Head of the Education and Leisure Services Department, will be retiring from her position with the council at the end of this month. It was twenty years ago, in 1996, that Ingibj\u00f6rg began working for the City of Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur, when the running of primary schools was transferred from the state to local authorities. Throughout her career, Ingibj\u00f6rg has been involved in a wide variety of educational projects, and her work has extended far beyond the city of Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur. Throughout her career with the City of Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur, and also as chair of Radda, an association for quality reading and public speaking, Ingibj\u00f6rg has managed the Grand Reading Competition, which began in Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur in 1996. The competition now covers all primary schools in the country, and in recent years the Little Reading Competition has also been added. Ingibj\u00f6rg will continue to be involved with the St\u00f3ra Upplestrarkeppnin when she retires from her position with the City of Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur.<\/p>\n
