The problem is not a new one but appears to have been on the increase in recent weeks and months, resulting in associated failures of pumps and other equipment. All of this results in costs that could otherwise be used for development and equipment maintenance. The situation has been particularly bad in the Valla district recently, and the accompanying message is therefore specifically aimed at residents and employees of businesses in the Valla district. &nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The content of the message, however, is relevant to all residents and employees of businesses in Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Dear residents and sewerage users in the Vallahverfi area<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Sewage from the Vallahverfi district flows to small pumping stations at Fl\u00e9ttuvelli and Klukkuvelli. From there, the sewage is pumped into a collection sewer which passes through a pump station and treatment works at Hraunav\u00edk, east of the aluminium smelter in Straumsv\u00edk.<\/p>\n<p>In recent weeks, the pumps at Fl\u00e9ttuvelli have become clogged, damaged and stopped because sanitary products (single-use cleansing wipes, cloths and more) which should never be put down the drain, get wrapped around the pump's impellers, causing inconvenience and significant costs for the sewerage service.<\/p>\n<p>Please check the packaging labels carefully and DO NOT under any circumstances dispose of such products down the toilet and\/or drains.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Material that <u>Not<\/u>&nbsp;must go into the sewer:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Mortar<\/li>\n<li><u>Disposable cloths<\/u><\/li>\n<li>Clothing<\/li>\n<li>Earphones<\/li>\n<li>Painting<\/li>\n<li>Blue &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;<\/li>\n<li>Fancy tie &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;<\/li>\n<li>Plastic bags<\/li>\n<li>Solvent<\/li>\n<li>Petrol<\/li>\n<li>Oils<\/li>\n<li>Bands and ribbons<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Thank you in advance for your positive response and cooperation in this area.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Nokku\u00f0 miki\u00f0 hefur bori\u00f0 \u00e1 \u00fev\u00ed a\u00f0 \u00f3\u00e6skilegir hlutir s\u00e9u a\u00f0 skila s\u00e9r \u00ed salerni og ni\u00f0urf\u00f6ll Hafnfir\u00f0inga.
