The project is carried out in collaboration with Bersann \u2013 the association of young social democrats in Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur. <\/em><\/p>\n<p>The Municipality of Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur has taken an active part in the Gay Pride Parade in recent years and will this year march under the slogan: Humanity is our race. Love is our faith. Around thirty young people aged 15\u201322 are leading the city's contribution to the parade, under the direction of the Competo Peer Education project, along with an arts collective and the creative summer jobs programme at Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur's Work School. <em>\u201eThe City of Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur paved the way last year with an agreement with Samt\u00f6kin \u201c78 for an educational programme aimed at increasing services for pupils and staff in primary schools through education on the issues affecting queer people, based on equality and inherent human rights. The education programme begins in Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur's primary schools this autumn. In this year's Pride Parade, we will celebrate the demonstrated success and prompt reflection with a meaningful slogan that conveys a message everyone can embrace and make their own.\" <\/em>says Haraldur L. Haraldsson, Mayor of Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur. \u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Humanity is our race. Love is our faith.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The slogan has an international origin, but the translation was handled by the young people responsible for preparing the town's submission. The slogan is considered descriptive and appropriate for this day, as well as for all other days, and is very much in keeping with the town's family and equality policies. The slogan conveys a beautiful message, celebrates diversity and at the same time prompts people to reflect. It is expected that around 30 young people aged 15\u201322 will lead the City of Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur's entry in this year's pride parade. Some of them will perform live music on a stage.
