A new nursery school in V\u00f6llunum, Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur, was officially opened today and will be added.
\nthus joining the group of 16 nurseries operating in the municipality. Bjarkalundur
\nis a four-unit nursery school and the operation of two units will begin now.
\nAugust. The construction of the nursery is funded entirely from its own funds and

Today, just over 5,000 people live in \u00c1 V\u00f6llunum, and the number is increasing.

\nto receive around 100 children once all departments have been opened as planned
\nthat there will be about 25 children aged two to five in each group. The name Bjarkalundur is the result of

\nand Mosi. Bjarkalundur operates in the spirit of the Reggio Emilia approach, where
\nThe aim is to view the child as a capable individual, allowing them the freedom to
\nof ceremonies and to develop at their own pace. The nursery will, right from the start
\nto begin a collaboration with the University of Akureyri on a development project in
\nreading. \u201eWe have been waiting for new
\na nursery school for the area has been anticipated for some time. Families in
\nThe number of neighbourhoods has increased significantly and will increase further in the coming quarters, and the development is

The nursery, which is one storey and a basement, is built
\naccording to drawings by Sigurlaug Sigurj\u00f3nsd\u00f3ttir, but the design of the building was by
\nby ASK Arkitekta ehf, Mannvit hf and Formu ehf. Construction works on
\nThe school began in spring 2015 following a tendering process where a bid was accepted from
\nTo subcontractors for the amount of 387,970,801 kr\u00f3nur. The total cost of the project will be
\nof around 430 million kr\u00f3na, and the difference is mainly explained by an increase in volume.,
\nbasement and other incidental costs. The project's cost estimate was around 420 million.

\noperation of the City of Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur and is, in my opinion, a certain monument to that positive
\na turnaround is taking place in the operation. A new nursery is entirely
\nfinanced by the equity of Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur municipality and the project is therefore a good example of
\nchanged priorities and policies in the running of the town\u201c<\/em> says Haraldur. The municipality
\nhas in recent months been working systematically to pay off unfavourable loans,
\nreduce new borrowing and fund with equity. If all goes to plan this year
\n2016 will be the first year of operation for the City of Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur since at least 2002.
