Recently, Hj\u00f6rd\u00eds \u00ddrr Sk\u00falad\u00f3ttir, a teacher at Hraunvallask\u00f3li, received an award for her participation in an eTwinning project last school year, the so-called eTwinning Quality Label. The project was carried out in collaboration with several European countries with the aim of raising children's awareness of the overuse of plastic. Various methods were used, such as giving the plastic a new lease of life in works of art or Christmas cards. Teachers also worked on a Facebook campaign with the aim of making more people than just the children aware of the overuse of plastic. eTwinning is an interesting way to connect with teachers in other countries and bring children from all over the world together. <\/p>\n
eTwinning is an accessible online school community where you can connect with European teachers and school staff, take part in simple collaborative projects and access professional development. workshops and courses<\/a>, to name but a few, all with the help of information technology. Each teacher or school staff member registers as an individual and there is no limit to how many from the same school can take part. Registration is simple and takes place at eTwinning European Portal<\/a>. In each country, there is a national office that supports participants free of charge. In Iceland, this role is carried out by Rann\u00eds. It is also possible to contact eTwinning Ambassadors, experienced teachers with experience of eTwinning.\u00a0eTwinning partnerships can enrich school life in many ways, broadening the horizons of both students and teachers and enhancing their skills in various ways. eTwinning thus promotes teachers' professional development, as well as student initiative and engagement. eTwinning is part of the EU's education programme (Erasmus+) and was launched in 2005.<\/p>\n
