The Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur Town Council today approved a proposal from the Town Board to appoint Sigr\u00ed\u00f0ur Kristinsd\u00f3ttir, the town solicitor, to the position of Director of the Administration Department. At the same time, the roles of director and town solicitor will be combined. Sigr\u00ed\u00f0ur will take up the post at the end of November. <\/i><\/p>\n
Sigr\u00ed\u00f0ur Kristinsd\u00f3ttir, who is the town lawyer for the Borough of Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur, has been appointed to the position of Director of the Administration Department. Sigr\u00ed\u00f0ur succeeds Kristj\u00e1n Sturluson, who has held the post for the last three and a half years.
\ncompleted the bar examination in law from the University of Iceland in 1989. She obtained
\nwas admitted as a district court lawyer in 1994 and a Supreme Court lawyer in 2013. She
\nhas worked in legal roles for the past 26 years, of which 21 have been as a lawyer. Sigr\u00ed\u00f0ur
\nhas comprehensive knowledge of local authority projects and also has she
\nworked within the civil service.<\/p>\n
The roles of the town solicitor and the director of the administrative services department will be combined into a single post under this change. The town solicitor currently works in the administrative services department, so this represents a transfer within the role. With the change, the payroll and IT departments will transfer from the Administrative Services Department to the Finance Department. The change opens up the possibility of strengthening the municipality's legal services, and a new lawyer will be appointed to the Administrative Services Department in the coming weeks.<\/p>\n
