Happy New Year, dear residents of Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur!<\/p>\n
A great deal of rubbish is generated over the New Year period when tonnes of fireworks are launched into the air. There are a great many empty firework boxes, sticks and twigs scattered around the town at the start of the year, and we appeal to residents and businesses in the area to be mindful of their local surroundings and tidy up after the New Year's celebrations. <\/p>\n
Let's join hands and clean up after the New Year!<\/b><\/p>\n
As with so much else, many hands make light work. We encourage residents of Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur and firework buyers to set a good example, clean up after themselves and dispose of any rubbish. Firework rubbish should be taken to the SORPA collection centres, which opened on 2 January. The public is warned not to dispose of firework permits in the safety bins. Firework litter should be taken directly to a Sorpu general waste collection point, with the exception of unexploded fireworks, which should go in the hazardous waste bin.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
