The Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur Town Council approved at its meeting on the 18th.<br \/>\nLast January, new rules on special housing support were introduced. Special<br \/>\nHousing support is financial assistance for paying rent, in addition to housing benefit.<br \/>\nwhich are granted on the basis of Act no. 75\/2016.<\/p>\n<h4>Conditions for approval of the application<\/h4>\n<p>Payment of special housing support takes over from payment<br \/>\nspecial housing benefit. The applicant's combined income and assets must be below the specified upper income and capital limits. The condition for an application to be approved is that the applicant:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>shall<br \/>\nentitled to housing benefit<\/li>\n<li>to have turned 18<\/li>\n<li>have their legal residence in<br \/>\nHafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Special housing support is<br \/>\ncalculated as a fixed percentage of housing benefits, so that for every 1,000<br \/>\nkr. in housing benefit, the tenant receives 700 kr. for a special<br \/>\nHousing support. Housing benefit and special housing support can never<br \/>\nreceive a total amount exceeding 82,000 kr. and can never exceed 75% of<br \/>\nhousing costs.
