Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur Youth Council together with staff
\nThe social centres of Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur organised a Youth Forum, 'New Year! New...'
\nHafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur, on 25 January last. The purpose of the meeting was, among other things, to get ideas.
\nfrom young people to projects and solutions that can improve the welfare of young people in
\nHafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur. Participants in the conference were offered the opportunity to take part in three
\ndiscussion groups; school matters, social life and culture and finally organisation\/environment and
\nprevention. In each category, there were group leaders who led the discussions. Group leaders are
\nrepresentatives from the Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur Youth Council. This year's group leaders were Katr\u00edn R\u00f3s,
\nBjarki Steinar, Breki, Eva Rut, Birta Gu\u00f0n\u00fd, Gu\u00f0r\u00fan and \u00c1slaug. Other representatives
\nYouth Council, Hekla, Steingr\u00edmur, Vaka, Mar\u00eda Mist, Katr\u00edn Mar\u00eda, \u00deorger\u00f0ur and
\nL\u00e1ra R\u00f3s saw various other tasks involved in holding a Youth Parliament. Also
\nIt should be noted here that the organisation and preparation were in the hands of representatives of UMH and
\nIt usually involves a lot of work.<\/p>\n
The house opened at 18:30 and the Mayor of Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur, Haraldur L. Haraldsson, opened the assembly and delivered a speech. Bjarki Steinar, a representative of UMH, held
\nThere was also an address, and then work began. About 100 people attended the assembly and queues formed.
