Second-year pupils in the primary schools of Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur attended a puppet show this morning, based on the children's composition Peter and the Wolf by
\nthe Russian composer Sergei Prokofiev. The purpose of the work is to introduce young audiences to classical music.
\nmusic and the various instruments of a symphony orchestra, but it is Bernd Ogrodnik who
\nbrings the work to life with his handmade wooden dolls. A visit to the puppet theatre is part of the Children's Book and Film Festival.<\/i><\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Prokofiev composed the work in 1936, a kind of symphonic fairy tale for children which is narrated in costume as it is played on the various instruments of the symphony orchestra.
