The Education Committee of Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur, at its 367th meeting on 8 March 2017, agreed to hold a naming competition for a new school in Skar\u00f0shl\u00ed\u00f0, off V\u00f6llunum in Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur.<\/p>\n

The school in Skar\u00f0shl\u00ed\u00f0 will be housed in a new school building, construction of which will begin in 2017, and it will be phased into use between 2018 and 2020. The school will house a primary school, a four-unit nursery school, a leisure centre for the primary school's pupils, a sports hall, and a branch of the Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur Music School. A single name is being sought for the school to cover all the activities that will take place in the building.<\/p>\n

The primary school will open in the autumn of 2017 in temporary premises at the \u00c1stjarnar parish hall for one school year, before moving into its new school building.<\/p>\n

Proposals for a school name must be received by 7 April.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Proposals for the school's name must be submitted to Fanney D. Halld\u00f3rsd\u00f3ttir, Director of Education and Leisure Services for the City of Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur, no later than 7 April 2017 at the following email address: fanney@hafnarfjordur.is<\/a> or in a sealed envelope to the address of the Education and Leisure Services of Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur Municipality at Linnetsst\u00edg 3, 220 Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur.<\/p>\n
