A number of individuals, businesses, institutions and organisations have come together to put on a homely programme at Flensborg Harbour that appeals to the whole family. The festival area opens at 13:00 on both days and is open until 17:00.&nbsp;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Seaman's Day holds a special place in the hearts of Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur residents, as the history of seafarers in the area is both rich and profound. Hafnfir\u00f0ingar have celebrated Seamen's Day since 1953, and are not about to give an inch on the festivities, despite the decline in ships at the harbour and the area's shift towards new industries. The harbour has changed from being bustling with life related to fishing and fish processing to being bustling with a diverse arts and cultural scene, as well as a large number of small boats, kayaks and yachts in the area. A car boot sale will be held on the pier on Saturday, where participants will have the opportunity to bring all sorts of gold and gems from storage and offer them for sale to passers-by. The pitch is free and everyone is welcome, space permitting.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Come home to Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur this weekend!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A varied programme will be on offer at Flensborg Harbour on both Saturday and Sunday, with the festival area opening at 13:00 on both days and remaining open until 17:00. The Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur Rescue Squad will be offering, among other things, an ocean obstacle course, a slide, a container climb, crate climbing, zip-lining and pillow fighting. The sailing club \u00deytur will be holding an open house, inviting all interested parties to try out rowing boats and kayaks, as well as offering sailing trips on dinghies and keelboats. A pleasure cruise around the bay of Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur will be available from 13:00 to 17:00 on Seafarers' Day itself. At around 15:30, a rescue demonstration will begin, featuring a helicopter from the Coast Guard. Captain Berg\u00fe\u00f3r Ingibergsson of the Bar\u00f0i GK will present the helicopter crew with a donation from himself, his wife Sirivan, and the Kiwanis Club Eldborg. This year marks the 30th anniversary of the Bar\u00f0inn's crew being rescued by helicopter when the vessel ran aground in Dritv\u00edk.
