Earlier this summer, the City of Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur called on residents and other interested parties for nominations for awards for the tidiness and beauty of properties, gardens and streets in Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur. On Thursday, 31st August, the awards were presented at a ceremony held at the premises of the Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur Forestry Association.\u00a0A total of 18 suggestions were received from residents regarding the most beautiful garden, the most beautiful street or path, and nominations were also received for the most beautiful grounds of community organisations. The committee has carefully reviewed all the suggestions and selected the following gardens, blocks of flats, and the tidiest businesses. <\/p>\n
The owners of the gardens at Lindarberg 82, Fj\u00f3luhl\u00ed\u00f0 12, L\u00e6kjargata 12b, \u00d6ldugata 6, Hafravellir 5 and \u00d6ldusl\u00f3\u00f0 9 received an award for the diversity of their planting, good upkeep, tidiness and dedication to their gardening.<\/p>\n
The block of flats at Hraunvang 1-3 received an award for its very beautiful and tidy grounds, where the lava field is allowed to flourish. Access is considered good and user-friendly for residents, with good walking paths and spaces to sit and enjoy the sun and the view.<\/p>\n
Keilir Golf Club received an award for the tidiest grounds among community organisations. In the opinion of the judging panel, the entrance is very beautiful and tidy, with well-maintained flowerbeds and general tidiness.\u00a0 Great emphasis has been placed on maintaining the green spaces around the building well, whilst also allowing nature to flourish. There is a diversity of plant life. Overall, the entire course is well-maintained and an excellent example to others.<\/p>\n
Then there was the St. George's Guild, the scout hut by Lake Hvaleyrarvatn. <\/strong>Also awarded for the tidiest grounds among the member organisations. In its review, the judging panel stated that great care and attention was taken with the cabin and its surroundings.
