Leisure transport has begun in Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur, where children in Year 1 and Year 2 have the opportunity to be taken from all the town's primary schools to their sports training.<\/p>\n
Mayor Haraldur L. Haraldsson and Education Director Fanney D. Halld\u00f3rsd\u00f3ttir yesterday travelled on the leisure transport service with 40 children. This journey took children from \u00c1slandask\u00f3li, Setbergssk\u00f3li and L\u00e6kjarsk\u00f3li to gymnastics training with Bj\u00f6rkuna and football training with FH and Haukar.<\/p>\n
All children in Year 1 and 2 have the opportunity to use this transport, which departs from all the town's schools. Initially, transport is only provided for training sessions with Bj\u00f6rk, and football training with FH and Haukar. However, this is an initial step towards shortening children's working hours, and it is being considered whether it will be possible to transport children to the Music School. In addition, other sports and leisure clubs will be given the opportunity to be included in this transport service. Today, nearly 300 children are registered for the transport service, and registration is done on My Pages on www.hafnarfjordur.is<\/a>.<\/p>\n The Education Committee decided that the transport would be free of charge for parents, but most have purchased a place for their children at after-school clubs, which can run until 5 p.m. each day.<\/p>\n The coach service is provided by H\u00f3pb\u00edlar, a company that has long been responsible for transporting primary school pupils to swimming and PE lessons.
