This year's festival will be dedicated to Gu\u00f0r\u00fan Helgad\u00f3ttir,<br \/>\nwriter and a resident of Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur. Gu\u00f0r\u00fanu needs<br \/>\nIt would be hard to introduce to any living Icelandic person, but she has left behind characters.<br \/>\nwhom the nation has learned to love over the years, such as P\u00e1ll Vilhj\u00e1lmsson,<br \/>\nthe twin brothers J\u00f3n Oddur and J\u00f3n Bjarni, and so the list of titles goes on and on.<br \/>\nHer works include nearly thirty pieces, in addition to four plays or playlets. Thus<br \/>\nshe gained her place as one<br \/>\nthe most beloved writer of our time.<\/p>\n<p>The festival will be opened on Friday, 16 March. The weekend<br \/>\nOn 17-18 March, there will be events at several of the town's institutions and at the Town Cinema.<br \/>\nThe following week, the festival will continue in the town's nurseries and primary schools.<br \/>\nThe aim of Book and Film Week is to remind people of the importance of reading and books and<br \/>\ntheir connection to films.<\/p>\n<p>Special emphasis will also be placed on those authors who now live and<br \/>\nare active in writing for young readers, such as the actor Gunnar Helgason and<br \/>\na writer who lives in Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur. It so happens that a picture by<br \/>\nHis book Hell in the Westman Islands will be premiered on 23 March next.<br \/>\nHeroes are going to come out of it, play a trick and challenge the Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur kids.<br \/>\nin a penalty shootout on Saturday at 13:00, ahead of a special ceremony<br \/>\nA screening of J\u00f3n Oddsson and J\u00f3n Bjarnar, which will be held at B\u00e6jarb\u00ed\u00f3 at 14:00.
