The culture and participation festival Bjartir dagar will be held next week, from 18th to 22nd April, in connection with the first day of summer, as in previous years.<\/strong> Bjartir dagar is a participation festival and is based on institutions, voluntary organisations, businesses and individuals taking part in creating events throughout the town connected to the festival, or taking part in the programmes organised by others.\u00a0A special emphasis is placed on the participation of children and young people, as the First of May is part of the celebrations. Various musical events feature prominently in this year's Bright Days programme, and on Friday evening, museums, shops and artists' studios will be open late. Musicians, sports clubs and various voluntary organisations are also putting on a wide range of events, and the town's cultural institutions are offering an entertaining programme.
The festival begins with the third-year pupils singing in the summer on Thorsplan on the last day of winter, the City of Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur's Artist in Residence is announced, and the Culture and Tourism Committee awards grants for events and cultural activities.<\/p>\n

The HEIMA music festival<\/strong> Now in its fifth year, it has truly established itself as a fun and unique music festival, offering a different experience and a greater sense of intimacy than concert-goers and artists are used to. The concerts in Hraunsel, a community centre for senior citizens, will feature a tribute to Alfred Clausen and Sigur\u00f0ur \u00d3lafsson on the last day of winter, and the Symphony Orchestra. Families will once again open their homes in the centre of Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur, with two different artists or bands performing in each house. Numerous other musical performances are on the programme, including songs by the popular singers Haukur Morthens, The songs of the popular singers Haukur Morthens, Alfre\u00f0 Clausen and Sigur\u00f0ur \u00d3lafsson will be revisited at a concert in Hraunsel, a community centre for senior citizens, on the last day of winter, and the Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur School of Music Symphony Orchestra will present a concert featuring light classical music performed by young musicians. Then, the colourful tones of the interwar period for clarinet, violin and guitar can be heard in the Free Church on the first of May, The Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur Brass Band is holding its spring concert in V\u00ed\u00f0ista\u00f0akirkja on Saturday, and children aged 3-6 are invited to a special musical session to get to know the children's harp at Hlj\u00f3ma on Austurgata on Sunday.<\/p>\n

First of May<\/strong> starts with a cross-country run in V\u00ed\u00f0ista\u00f0at\u00fan, from where the parade proceeds to Thorsplan in the centre of Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur, where the scout group Hraunb\u00faar is in charge of a varied family programme hosted by Gunni and Felix with their usual brilliance, and numerous residents of Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur take part, e.g. Bj\u00f6rgvin Franz and B\u00edb\u00ed, Brynjar Dagur and the Flensborg School's drama club performs an excerpt from Pitz Perfect.<\/p>\n

The strength and vibrancy of the arts scene in Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur has, among other things, been reflected in the event. Walk into town<\/strong> When artists, designers and craftspeople from the area, from the small boat harbour to the centre of Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur, open their studios and welcome visitors and passers-by. The shops in the town centre will also be open late into the evening, making it the perfect opportunity to shop for unique designs in the heart of Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur.<\/p>\n

During the Bright Days, the sports movement in Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur organises promotions for sports disciplines in sportsand the health town of Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur to draw attention to the fantastic work taking place in the clubs and to show the town's residents and other sports enthusiasts a sample of the best that the town's sports have to offer. For example, the Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur Boardriders Club will be holding an open house on the first of May, and equipment can be borrowed if needed. The sailing club \u00deytur is inviting residents to go sailing on the first of May, The Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur Boxing Club is holding a championship tournament on Saturday and the Keilir Golf Club is offering free golf lessons, and on Sunday there is an opportunity to watch the country's most promising badminton players compete in the final of the Badminton Club of Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur's cup tournament, and the table tennis and tennis section of thags present their activities.<\/p>\n

In the run-up to the White Nights, on Tuesday, 17th April, there will be A seminar will be held at Hraunvallask\u00f3li.<\/a> where representatives from the Office of Education and Leisure Services and Family Services, together with staff from the town's nurseries and primary schools, will present to residents the projects that have shaped their work in recent years. <\/p>\n
