R\u00f3sa Gu\u00f0bjartsd\u00f3ttir, the outgoing chairman of the town council, was then appointed mayor and will start work tomorrow, 21 June.<\/p>\n
Councillors from the Independence Party and the Progressive Party and Independents have entered into a pact on the formation of a majority in the town council, entitled \u201eImproved Services, a Better Town\u201c. The agreement states that the emphasis is on \u201efamily matters, senior citizens and efficient services for the benefit of residents and businesses.\u201c <\/p>\n
R\u00f3sa Gu\u00f0bjartsd\u00f3ttir, the new mayor, is looking forward to tackling the challenges ahead and is optimistic about the new coalition partnership. \u201eWe sit here on behalf of the residents, our goals are clear and we will get started straight away.
