The Education Department of Reykjanesb\u00e6r, the Education and Leisure Service of Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur and the School Service of \u00c1rborg have been collaborating on a development project which, among other things, aims to strengthen the learning, well-being and social status of pupils of foreign origin in schools. Its aim is to support schools in placing students of foreign origin in relation to their prior knowledge and experience. The results of the assessment will make it easier for schools to organise students' learning based on their strengths and needs.<\/p>\n
The following form the preparatory and expert group: Aneta Figlarska, Hrund Har\u00f0ard\u00f3ttir and \u00deorsteinn Hjartarson from \u00c1rborg, Fanney D\u00f3r\u00f3the Halld\u00f3rsd\u00f3ttir, Kristr\u00fan Sigurj\u00f3nsd\u00f3ttir and \u00de\u00f3rd\u00eds Helga \u00d3lafsd\u00f3ttir from Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur, and Halld\u00f3ra Fr\u00ed\u00f0a \u00deorvaldsd\u00f3ttir, Helgi Arnarson and Kolfinna Nj\u00e1lsd\u00f3ttir from Reykjanesb\u00e6r. Halld\u00f3ra Fr\u00ed\u00f0a will lead the project.<\/p>\n
H\u00e1aleitis School in Reykjanesb\u00e6r, L\u00e6kjarsk\u00f3li in Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur and Vallask\u00f3li in \u00c1rborg will be participating schools from the start.<\/p>\n
The project recently received a grant from the Sprotasj\u00f3\u00f0ur fund in the amount of 2,350,000 kr. An agreement has been made with Gy\u00f0a Arnmundsd\u00f3ttir, former manager of the school service in Reykjanesb\u00e6r, to translate an assessment tool that has been used with great success in Sweden. The plan is to subsequently hold a course for teaching teams and school support staff from these three municipalities, in collaboration with Swedish partners. The course will focus on the knowledge and skills required to administer and use the assessment. The course is planned to take place in January or February 2019. Furthermore, the aim is for all schools in the country to be able to receive training sessions and promotional materials once the project is complete.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
