The 2018 ISI Olympic Run was launched at Hraunvallask\u00f3li in Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur last Thursday in fine weather. Around 800 of the school's pupils took part in the launch of the run and could choose to run 2.5 km, 5 km or 10 km. Blossi, the mascot of the 2015 Small Nations Games, was on hand to cheer on the students and was a great hit. Ragnhildur Sk\u00falad\u00f3ttir, Director of the Development and Education Department at the IAAF, presented Lars J\u00f3hann Imsland, Headteacher of Hraunvallar School, with several types of balls as a gift from the IAAF. Representatives from Mj\u00f3lkursamsalan were on site and gave the children ice-cold milk at the end of the run. <\/p>\n
The Nordic School Run has been held in the country's primary schools continuously since 1984, and for the majority of that time has been organised by the IOA. In recent years, Iceland has been the only participating nation in the Nordic countries, and the run's name has therefore not reflected the project. The ISI has therefore decided to change the name of the run, and it is now called the ISI Olympic Run.
