Numerous studies have shown that by stimulating language development, it is possible to strengthen the foundational elements of literacy and support good academic achievement.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>This project is part of the literacy strategy for Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur and is being carried out in close collaboration with the Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur Public Library and the health centres in Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur.\u00a0 Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur Public Library and the Municipality of Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur have joined forces to give all children aged 6 to 24 months a book as a gift, which is presented at an educational session in each neighbourhood. All parents of children in this age group are invited to an educational session in their local area.
