The representatives of the municipalities on
\nThe capital region recently signed a letter of intent for talks on
\nInvestments in trunk roads and a high-quality public transport system on
\nthe capital region. The mayor of Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur says jointly
\nan important statement in ongoing talks with the government about the next steps in
\ntransport infrastructure projects in the capital region and wants to see a clear plan for safety
\nof travellers.<\/i><\/p>\n
In a joint declaration of intent, it states
\nthat the signatories agree to aim for sustainable,
\na carbon-neutral urban community and a robust public transport system with
\ndiverse modes of travel in line with the government's climate plan and priorities
\nof the municipalities in the capital region. A project group has been established.
\nunder the leadership of Hreinn Haraldsson, former Road Administrator, who will deliver
\nproposals by 15 November. The proposals need to take into account the objectives in
\nTransport Plan 2018-2033, Climate Action Plan 2018-2030 and Plan

\ntransport plan that work on the dualling of the Reykjanesbraut will continue on
\nnext year, but also wants to see a clear plan to ensure the safety of road users.
\nIt is more likely to be secured by getting that project finished sooner than it currently looks like.\u201eWe

\nroad safety. The group's findings will then be presented to the government and
\nto the town councils and the city council for confirmation, but those proposals that call for
