In the autumn of 2017, the leisure transport service in Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur was relaunched, and today, nearly 1,500 children and parents from the town use the service. The leisure bus runs from ten after-school clubs to ten leisure centres and sports clubs in Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur every weekday.<\/p>\n
In the 2017-2018 school year, the after-school transport service resumed in Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur, and at the start of the project, it transported 6 and 7-year-old pupils to training sessions for three sports clubs. The pilot was a success, with around 300 children and parents using the service each week. For the new school year, the service has been significantly expanded, and all pupils in Years 1 to 4 are now offered a lift to training sessions that start at 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. The transport service began on 3 September, with pick-up points at all primary schools in Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur and drop-off points at ten different leisure centres and sports clubs, such as the School of Dance, the Music School, Bjarkirnar, FH, Haukar and SH, in addition to the Keilir Golf Club, are being added this October. This ambitious project is intended to shorten the children's working day, increase services for parents, make better use of the sports facilities, support the work of sports and leisure clubs, increase all children's access to healthy sports and youth work, and make the work of the after-school clubs even more fun.<\/p>\n
The project is a collaboration between the City of Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur, local sports clubs and H\u00f3pb\u00edlar. Registration for the transport takes place through the after-school clubs, and the service is free of charge for parents.<\/p>\n
