The purpose of the fund is to promote the musical life of Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur and to support students from Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur for postgraduate study in music, and music scholars.<\/p>\n<p>The applicant shall provide a detailed description of their studies or proposed project. The application deadline is 1 November 2018. Applications should be submitted to&nbsp;<a title=\"My pages on hafnarfjordur.is (Opens in a new browser window)\" href=\"https:\/\/ibuagatt.hafnarfjordur.is\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">My pages on hafnarfjordur.is<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In a will from 1960, the couple Fri\u00f0rik Bjarnason and Gu\u00f0laug P\u00e9tursd\u00f3ttir bequeathed a large part of their assets to the City of Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur and stipulated that books and items should be preserved in the library and that a fund should be established to \u201eto promote musical life in Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur in the manner considered best at the time, with particular emphasis on promoting choral life in the town\u201c, and \u201eto support students in musical studies and music scholars\u201c.
