A working group on nurseries recently held its first meeting. The group, appointed by the Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur Education Council, will continue to work on proposals put forward in a report by a task force on working conditions in Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur nurseries, which operated in the spring term of 2018.\u00a0 The group will also put forward further approaches and ideas that can contribute to improved conditions in nurseries for both children and staff.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The work is guided by the aim of making nursery work even more attractive. Some of the ideas have already been implemented. Nurseries have started working to a new space plan, an overtime pool has been established to cover professional assignments, preparation time for professional staff has been increased, and improvements have been made to soundproofing. There has been great satisfaction with these changes and improvements. Also under consideration is a reduction of the working week and a minimum service in the nurseries between Christmas and New Year, given that space utilisation is far from 100% at that time.
