On the first weekend in December, Christmas officially begins in
\nHafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur with the opening of the Christmas Village and the switching on of the Christmas lights at Thorsplani. The little
\nThe beautifully decorated Christmas houses in the Christmas Village in Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur have become nationally renowned.
\nA marketplace for various gifts, crafts and design, ideal for
\nto put in the Christmas package along with a delicious treat to eat on the premises and\/or take away
\nto take home to the festive table. The Christmas Village will be open from 12-17 every Saturday.
\nand Sundays in Advent, and the lighting ceremony takes place from 6 pm to 8 pm on

\nThe Christmas Village is celebrating its fifteenth anniversary this year with a spectacular programme.<\/b><\/p>\n
This weekend, the Christmas adventure begins in the Christmas Village at Thorsplan and
\nStrandgatan in Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur will be bustling with people and a true Christmas spirit and
\ntransforms into a pedestrian street during the village's opening hours. Santa Clauses make an extra trip to
\nbuilt to play with the children. The Christmas village in Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur is now celebrating in
\ncelebrating its 15th anniversary with a varied programme when the lights are switched on
\nThe Cuxhaven Christmas tree on Friday evening. The Christmas tree is a gift from the twin town of Cuxhaven in
\nGermany, but this year the twin towns are celebrating 30 years of partnership. The twinning associations
\nhave been a driving force in partnership and cooperation in the fields of business and culture,
\nSports and Youth. The Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur Brass Band and the Threstir Male Choir perform
\nsome Christmas songs and there will be a selection of the best on offer in
\nB\u00e6jarb\u00ed\u00f3 in December with Fri\u00f0rik D\u00f3r, Bubbi, J\u00f3hanna Gu\u00f0r\u00fan and Dav\u00ed\u00f0
\nSigurgeirsson takes the song. Over these 15 years, the Christmas Village has grown in size
\nand over the years have managed to captivate the entire nation and, increasingly, the tourists who
\nchoose to return home. The people of Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur themselves have also started to make use of
\nthe opportunity and the platform for home visits during Advent. Thus, whole groups gather
\nthe extended families and groups of friends in the centre of Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur, popping into shops, on
\nan art exhibition, in the little Christmas houses or the town's museums specifically to have it
\nCosy at Christmas\u201c<\/i> says Andri \u00d3marsson, project manager of the Christmas Village in
\nHafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur, where he is in charge of the programme and organisation of the Christmas Village in
\nin collaboration with a number of companies, organisations and individuals. \u201eIt creates
\nA unique and homely Christmas atmosphere in the centre of Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur during Advent.
\nPeople come here to enjoy themselves, relax and have fun. Increased emphasis was placed on
\nThis year, we're having a wide variety of food so that everyone can find something they like.
\nWe will, among other things, be serving lamb direct from the farm in various forms.,
\nGoat's cheese and health products from Icelandic ingredients and food craftsmanship as pioneers
\nhave developed high-quality coffee, tea and cocoa to warm you up\u201c<\/i> says Andri.
\nThe Christmas village in Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur will, as previously stated, be open every Saturday and
\nSundays from 12-17 during Advent.<\/p>\n
