Construction is now in full swing on the High Quay in the Port of Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur. This new steel-decked quay, approximately 110 metres long, will be situated between the ends of the South Quay and the \u00d3seyrarbryggja, in front of the Fornub\u00fa\u00f0ir. This quay is intended to be the main berthing place for the research vessels of the Marine Research Institute, which will move its operations to the South Harbour in the latter half of this year.<\/p>\n
In preparation for the lowering of the steel sheet piling, a cut needs to be blasted into the seabed, and the first blast took place today. A further 3-4 blasts are expected in the cutting area.<\/p>\n
Please note! The next blast will be today, Wednesday, at 5 p.m. <\/em><\/strong> It is the contractor Hagtak that is handling the works at the harbour front for the Port of Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur.
