A new name for the youth centre was voted on last night at the founding meeting of the house association at 14 Su\u00f0urgata. The name Hamarinn was chosen from the 18 proposals put forward, and is taken from the beautiful outdoor recreational area located a short distance from the youth centre itself.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Most young people from Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur have fond childhood memories of the area and are undoubtedly very familiar with it. The name seemed both ideal and fitting, as the hammer is a beautiful place where positive memories can be made, just as it is hoped the youth centre will be for the young people of Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur. At the youth centre, young people aged 16-25 can take part in a wide range of activities in a drug-free and safe environment. This is a programme that will, over time, be shaped by the group itself. Hamarinn is open from 13:00 to 17:00 every weekday. On Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, it is open until 22:00.
