The youth council from Sveio in Hordaland, Norway, contacted<br \/>\n <a href=\"\/en\/ibuar\/schools-and-children\/youth-council\/\" class=\"internal\">Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur Youth Council<\/a>  last year and led the delegation, together with the mayor of Sveio, a small community of 3,600 people, on a visit to Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur from 28 to 31 March. Purpose<br \/>\nThe purpose of the trip was to see the country and its people, as well as to visit the Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur Youth Council and find out about its activities and projects. The two groups met on a work and educational day on Friday, 29th March, where they introduced themselves and their work, as well as visiting the President of Iceland at Bessasta\u00f0ir, swimming in the Su\u00f0urb\u00e6r swimming pool, and spending free time together at the Hamar youth centre and elsewhere.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4>Informal learning \u2013 Non-formal education<\/h4>\n<p>Staff and young people of the youth councils see this visit as an opportunity for the groups to learn and gain new experience and knowledge outside the classroom. The so-called<br \/>\nInformal learning is conducive to personal, social and professional development.<br \/>\nof the individuals in the project, as well as to enhance the active participation and social awareness of the participants. Non-formal education is defined as learning that participants acquire outside<br \/>\ntraditional learning environment (e.g. not in a classroom). Learning that participants<br \/>\npursued with interest and of their own free will (not compulsory).
