Gunnella H\u00f3lmarsd\u00f3ttir is a mother of two from Kinnunum who, like many others, wonders every day how she and her family can treat the environment and its resources with greater responsibility and respect. Her ideas include organising recycling at home, general consumption, cleaning up the local environment and minimising the use of the family car. \u201eI've managed to organise my home so that sorting has become relatively simple. I've been sorting plastic for a long time and taking it to the local recycling bins, and I was very pleased when I could start putting all the plastic in a special bag straight into the wheelie bin. Once a month, I then take the remaining waste from the household to the local recycling centre or to the tip; glass, textiles, hazardous materials and the like. Things people tend to put in the rubbish bin because they don't know any better. It's all about a simple system and educating the family about the process.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n
